I love writing and find myself thinking of different ways to write things throughout the day. I think of ideas for writing. I enjoy the process of actually hand writing something and seeing the messy scrawl of a paper. I love knowing I will have to edit and re-edit to make it just right. I even enjoy editing other's writing. (My tutoring students love this! ha) I was in the bank today and looking at my ocean key chain and thought of this,
"Writing might seem vast as an ocean-the expanse unbearable. Dip your toe, then submerge yourself."
Not the most profound of statements, but for me, this is what the writing process has been like. Re-entering the world of writing after a ten year hiatus has been frustrating and painful sometimes. The great thing is I have a completely different writing style now and am less concerned with what others think of my writing. Putting it out on the line and posting it on this blog has been good for me. I don't know if anyone even reads it and I don't really care (don't be offended) if anyone reads it. But the act of displaying it for others has made me think differently of my writing and given me more courage.
That being said, be brave and do something new this next year. If you are still nervous, at least put your toe in the water and see what happens.
Here are some of the things I have written:
The Life of a Table (This is my personal favorite)
What will you be brave about this year?

Just so you know, I read your blog today! Someone IS reading it. And I really appreciate your honesty. I am in a similar situation...years away from writing, word flow is a little creaky at times, but I am writing a blog to jumpstart myself. It is a great way to get back into writing regularly, and I hope getting better over time!
Love the advent calendar by the way.
