Flower rosettes

I know flower rosettes are old news, but I love the vintagey look they have. And how you can change colors up and use them on anything! Frames, pillows, skirts, headbands, hair thingys, anything! I think they are cute, so I finally made some that I like enough to put on here. I made them out of get this:

An old sheet!( that's the creamish one)

and

A skirt I got paint on but couldn't bear to get rid of because I love the design on the fabric.(that's the black and cream one) phew.

That being said, here is how I did it. Cut about a 2 inch width by 14-16 inch length strip. Tie a knot in the end. Twist, twist, twist, but not so twisty that it bunches up. Then twist around knot, glue, twist around not glue, etc. Easy peasy! I made about 10 or something in an hour, which means a lot of money saved. Is it just me or can anyone else think that spending $10 on a hair thing at Target that you can make yourself is just dumb?

I made the circular flower one, by outlining a 6 or 7 inch diameter circle cup onto the fabric and cutting it out. Fold in half and fold in half again. It will look like a triangle with a rounded edge. Glue it onto a felt strip in a circle. 4 on each layer.I did two layers and liked the fullness. I'm sure 3 would be great too. I need to find a cute button for the middle.

I was also thinking of making a longer version with 6 or 8 rosettes and make it an across the head headband. I'm sure it's been done before, but when you do it yourself, it is new to you!!

Twist on hair flowers

These sure aren't the best quality pictures, so hope you can see what they look like! I had some leftover ribbon from a project. It is the iridescent kind that also has ribbon along the outside. I folded it in half and did the same method that you would use to make a hair flower. It ended up looking like a rose which I thought was pretty cool.

Caution: since the ribbon has teeny holes in it, it burns sooo bad! Crafting is pain, right?!

Bow board

I am a bow person. I have two girls and LOTS of ribbon!! And up till a few months ago, nowhere to put them. I had a few frames hanging around and took the glass out and painted them black. With the cardboard, I covered with fabric and hot glued the back. I added three ribbons and hot glued them. It has helped organize them and keep them cute!
