I made skirts!!!!

My daughter being a total butt because she didn't want my 4 year old in the picture. The 2 year old was in bed so I didn't get a picture of her in her skirt but she was super cute in it!!

The first time I attempted to make skirts for my girls, they ripped up the sides. The second time was less bad, but I had the wrong measurements. They were turned into sleeping bags for their baby dolls. I never knew I would spend 3 hours making sleeping bags for baby dolls. lol But thanks to my wonderful friend, Mitzi, I was able to figure it out! And I sewed 2 in 2 hours. The second one only took me 45 minutes. So, now I am thinking of using leftover fabric to make some summer skirts for my girls instead of paying a ridiculous amount for longer skirts! I used ribbon instead of making my own ties because I found some in my junk box. Much easier!

Dress up a boring dress!

This bow should have been made long ago, however, I did not know of the simplicity of making a bow (or that I would receive five compliments from this bow!!) And boy was I happy that it didn't look homemade. There is nothing worse than making something and it turns out so bad that even you (the maker) thinks it looks homemade! Now, unless we're talking about homemade bread or chocolate chip cookies, you get the picture, right?!

Blake was out of town a few weeks ago and I got all crafty in my nightly loneliness and busted this out in an hour and a half. This dress was just too boring for words and I would gladly wear some cute jewelry and a cardigan or something, but the 110 degrees in Vegas would just not allow it!

4th of July skirts

Don't laugh too hard! I made this on a whim Saturday night out of some material I have had sitting around for five years, which were supposed to be curtains for Hailoo's (now 6 year old) nursery! That is more the purpose of this blog than anything is to make myself do new things and use up my stuff!!

I got a skirt that fit both my girls and stretched and measured and hoped it would fit! They were in bed by now, so no way of knowing! I basically sewed a pencil skirt, by putting the two patterned sides together and sewing down the sides. Then I hemed it and made an enclosure for the elastic. I had the flowers sitting around from something else and hot glued them (is that allowed?!) Then added ribbon. The girls were so excited when they woke up. Now I just have to figure out how to make them flare!

Disclaimer: Hailoo was being a grump because we couldn't find a matching shirt for Brooke so they could be twins. Guess the skirts weren't enough?!

Also, Brookie has more lovin' on her legs so the pencil skirt will probably be a one timer and turned into a baby bed or something!

Pebble's Halloween Costume

My dad is a big fan of my kids and thought that my youngest should be Pebbles for Halloween. Her hair is usually up in a firework ponytail, so much of the time, she looks like Pebbles! I am a sewing novice. I have done blankets and can hem and such, but have never attempted anything from a strip of fabric. I measured using a dress that fit her and after some adjustments, got the dress over her head (just barely!) Probably should have used elastic? I also attempted to make a diaper cover without much luck. She has some seriously chubby legs! So, her diaper cover became a cute hat. I was so proud of me and she was a doll!!

Stuff you can do with a Pillowcase

I was going through my linen closet awhile back and found a whole bunch of pillowcases that I never use anymore. For the dress, I just added the embellishments that I had hanging around. It was easy, just cut and sew the seam. I also added one to the middle and a bow to the back. For the sleeves, I just cut an armhole and sew in some stretchy stuff in to the collar. The sleeves were so easy too, just cut and sew.

The superhero cape was even easier! Had some free ribbons and sewed them on. Made different letters "H" for my daughter and "S" for my son. They love them! Have given them away for gifts too and it's great!
