E is for Effort

E is for Effort

Blake is great at doing the tedious jobs in the house.  The jobs I hardly ever get to and truthfully don't enjoy.  For example, he cleaned the rafters in our bedroom.  Who does that?!  Well, he was tired of the dust we couldn't see and he cleaned them.  And let me tell you, there was plenty of dust up there.  He scrubs the little sections of things I don't even think of. He cleans the car to such an immaculate condition that I actually stay on top of it.  He cleans the gutters on the house and ENJOYS it!  He scrubs the tub and the grout and never says a word about it.  He cleans the little spots on the carpet. He washes the table with the good soap until it shines.  He shines the sink and makes it smell glorious.  Now all of this might seem like I am a real slacker in the house cleaning department.  I am not that bad!  But how lucky am I to have a husband who jumps in on the little things?  The things that just don't get done very often because of kids and life and just being tired at the end of the day?  I used to tell him I felt bad because he was helping and it made me feel like I wasn't doing enough.  He would just say, "I know you need help so I am helping."  And there was never a more blessed woman anywhere in the world!

I also had an awesome picture to go with this but I can't figure out how to get it to come over from my phone. I never said I was a computer nerd.=)

We appear to have a similar relationship as I too am not the spit-spot house proud mum but my husband loves clean and sparkling! The only problem is that he tends to let me know where the problems are in our house rather than share Blake's wonderful philosophy of "You need help so I'm helping". He does lend a hand though and I wouldn't change him (despite his nagging) and it was good to read your post and remind myself of this - so many thanks and keep up the good work!

very funny and awesome and I'm ENVIOUS. Actually my husband will catch stuff I miss and he'll do it but seems to need way more praise about it than your guy. Good post and I like you site. WE under 100 followers have to build support. Enjoy a to z

I love that your husband helps you do all those tasks that would otherwise consume you! My husband used to be like that...wonder what happened! Lol.

No, to his credit, he does the dishes A TON! That is kind of his thing, which I will gladly pass on. He also cleaned out the garage over the weekend, so that was a good thing!

I don't know about you, but I sometimes wonder how people keep up with it all--kids, job, housework, activities, sports, church responsibilities. I feel like we're on overdrive!

Senco Cat herder, you have to pick your battles right?! Joanne, we had 4 kids in 7 years, so he was kind of forced into it. lol Kristin, I know! We don't do activities after school. And I definitely can't keep up with much, but oh well. I guess when I die I won't be bummed out over a messier house.
